Once you've gone through a developmental edit and are happy with the structure of your manuscript, the next phase of editing is a line or copyedit.
This edit will focus on the style of language used in your manuscript and ensure that it is technically correct.
As your line editor, I will:
What do I need from you?
To be able to give you an estimate of costs, I will need to see a sample of your writing; ideally, one chapter from the beginning, one chapter from the middle, and one chapter from the ending. This allows me to check that the structure of the novel is sound before I begin this next level of editing, and that your manuscript is ready for a professional edit. If I don't believe it is, I will send it back to you with some suggestions for you to work on before you send it back to me.
If you then decide you wish to proceed, I will need the entire manuscript as a Word document; the font size should be 12 pt., and it should be double spaced.
